Hi! Haven't updated this blog for too long! :D

I just came back from my trip early this week. Many things are happening - and right now, I'm quite uncertain of my future. I might move away from Sydney...will update when I am sure.

Well, how to battle stress and worries other than making something! I bought some 'Good Morning' towels when I was in Kuching, and have made a tote bag today. It is now for sale on my Etsy - buy it if you like it, coz it's a one-off. It's the first of my 'Good Morning' range...and even I don't know what the subsequent products will be, heheheh.

Finally got to watch Jane Eyre tonight! (Or, rather, last night...it's already 2:30 am Friday now haha) It was quite good, but too short (although it's 2 hrs); it felt like the story was cut up too much so people who have not read the book wouldn't really get the feelings of the characters the book portrayed. Hmm... but all in all, I loved it hehehe.

Suddenly had an idea for a chair; so drew it up in VectorWorks and photoshop-ed it a bit.

Added in some outlines of the mushrooms from an illustration I'm currently working on :P

Hopefully I'll be able to make it? I might start off with some models & prototypes first haha.

Today's weather was great; this whole week has been sunny and quite warm...however, next week's gonna be cooler again.

So, had a day out today and bought some things:

Love the free pair of slippers that came with one of the magazines - and the socks too hahaha; imagine wearing them together! :P

ONE MORE MONTH to HK-Msia!!! Can't wait can't wait can't wait! And then, a 'new' start after that!!! Yeay yeay busy busy busy - many things to do before I leave for my trip! And LOTS more things to do during the trip! And also even more things to do when I come back!

I don't really like this style of colouring, I prefer it to be light and simple (like the Fassbender portrait). How how how??? Guess I need to experiment with different styles and see which one works best.

crazy for tennis

Hello! It's been a few busy weeks working on my so-called freelance job and other things. I ate so much over the weekend that I wish I can just play tennis all day long every day, hahahah.

Previously I mentioned that I've been buying a Jap mag called Liniere for a few months now; and every month's issue comes with a free bag. Here they are - not all of them are nice, but some of them are :D

A few weeks ago, I was involved in a project, which was to furnish a room at the Gaffa Gallery to become a meeting room, which people can rent to have, well, meetings in.

I used a few found glass jars/bottles to make this vase cluster, tied with natural twine.

Besides that, I also 'hacked' an IKEA stool, and made it into a different-looking stool than what it was supposed to be. :D

Below is the process:

Well, firstly, just to show what an awesome workspace I hacked my stool in - the rooftop of Gaffa gallery. Feels like New York, hhahahahahah.

Anyway, this is the IKEA stool I was given.

Trying out different configurations until I came to the one I liked.

Sewing the seat to get an extra element.

Almost there.

Giving it some paint to tie in with the whole room's look.

It has been a rather busy few weeks, hence the slow updates. But, hopefully I'll have many nice stuff to share soon!

Going for an opening tonight and then very looking forward to next Monday - I'll be doing something very exciting hehehh (hopefully it'll be really fun!)

Oh! And also, I'll be holding a stall at the 'I Heart Gallery' DIY market this Sunday. My beards&moustaches will be on sale, besides other goodies as well as Reverie Room's cards! Gotta think about the display! :D

And today, I finally got my hands on my idol's latest single - after going to the post office TWICE and coming back empty-handed. Apparently, the postman sent them to the wrong post office....in the next suburb!

Played round with some lights and a glass bottle. Wanna make my own glass jars + bottles chandelier hahahah.

Yoohoo! I really did end up going to Mitchell Road Auction Centre today! It was very sunny but also very windy - and my hands were freezing! So I warmed up a bit at Don Campos Specialty Brewing Bar, which I found on the way back from the auction centre.

Saw some new things at mitchell road, and I've posted them up on fb; thus I've done a screen-grab so I don't have to re-upload the pics here, hehehe :P

After the nice bit of sunny (but windy) walk from mitchell road, I stopped by Don Campos to have a coffee and a peanut butter & jelly macaron. Which was yummy by the way :D

I also dropped by a beadshop and had a great time browsing through their goods. In the end, I bought some stuff, pictured below:

By the time I came home, it was wayyyyy past lunchtime and my tummy was sort of growling, so I had a hearty lunch! Sweet corn + chicken soup with some tortellini and some Korean dumplings, hahahah what a combination.

I've just 'installed' a length of twine across a bit of my bedroom wall with some little wooden pegs perching on them, to clip/hang little bits of things that I like and then take photos of them. (which I shall try to make regular postings of)

Made a small pouch today with some real leather cutoffs. It has two compartments, with snap fasteners on a single black leather strip that connects from the front to the back. Images below. :)

Was drawing some stripes today. I love stripes, hahahah. Wishing I could print my own fabrics and use them to make stuff.

Gonna try different ways of colouring in the 'hairy' illustrations I did a while back. This one is coloured in digitally using some textured colours scanned in from a palette of colours with markers on textured paper. After that, it is edited digitally and the background is (if you noticed!) one of the stripes in the image above, and also a flowery print initially intended for the background of this blog.

Hello!

So, last week, Sarah came and went. We had such a great time, albeit a very short one. Didn't actually manage to go to all the places that we planned in our timetable. Might post some pics later on, but it's all of food, hahahha.

After Sarah left, I got really sick and am slowly recovering AND keeping busy with my freelance work and also sewing some goodies which will 'debut' at the FindersKeepers markets which will happen on the 20th and 21st May at CarriageWorks! Below is a snapshot of work-in-progress :D I need to really hurry up and churn out more!

After FindersKeepers, I will be selling some goodies here! Hopefully all goes well! :)

And then to start on the few projects that were put on hold...woops, it's like I'm writing down my to-do list here, hahahah.

ooops, another long break from my blog. Time really really flies. *sigh* On the bright side, it will be September soon, heheheh.

But, I really need to gear up. I've many projects on my mind but I can't seem to just sit down and plan and start doing what I should. Maybe it's the side effect of too much multi-tasking all these years, that I can't seem to just focus on one thing at a time...like how my half-read magazines are piling up, projects-with-friends still left/stuck in the pre-planning phases, things to do piling up on my desk (which is becoming a storage area instead of a proper desk), hmmm...and the rainy weather isn't helping either. *excuses excuses excuses*

However, many things to look forward to:

- Sarah's coming next week!!!

- FindersKeepers in 3 weeks! *lots of work to do!*

Just bought a book written by Joy of OhJoy. Hopefully I can put it to good use!

Hmm, what else... currently still obsessed with a Japanese magazine I discovered few months ago called Liniere. I don't understand a single word in there, but I really LOVE everything featured in there, I *think* it's all zakka stuff? - all the clothes, shoes, bags, accessories...even features places to go, furniture, beauty products, food, etc etc. If I have the time, I'll maybe take some pics to show.

Ok, gotta get back to being busy...had time to blog a bit coz was waiting for the other laptop to process some images (nothing exciting, just my other job), heh heh heh.

Did I promise pics of my PomPouf?

Here they are:

After making tons of pompoms : ready to be sewn onto canvas that is sewn onto a wooden embroidery hoop, doubling as a frame to hang it. The making of the pompoms resulted in some skin damage on my thumb -__- Which will heal, with lots of hand cream, hopefully.

ThePomPouf! Oh, and besides pompoms, it has a crocheted 'mini-banner' hanging underneath too!

I've also been making a backpack - for use when I go cycling on my dear bike. :P

It is STILL missing straps until I find a suitable strap material.

Love it? heheheh

It is of very durable canvas print fabric outside; inside is of plain canvas. It has a soft but sturdy quilted base, and outer front pocket, and has zippers at the opening instead of the usual pull-strings. And a huge wooden button with an elastic band to hold the flap in place. Machine-sewn and also hand-stitched in some places (which are hard to reach with the machine, heheh).

I also made a 2011 diary/organizer out of paper from notepads that I have left lying around.

Really wanted to buy this but thought I'd save the $ instead. :D

Oh no, I haven't been updating the blog for a month! How fast does time fly...

I am at the end of my internship (tomorrow's my last day) (boo) and the annual graduating exhibition is coming up AND I have to find a job real soon.

Anyway, a piece of good news... I'm getting a bike (courtesy of AllSorts Gym & Clarence St Cyclery) coz I won a prize in a lucky draw hehehhhe.....and I ended up getting this one!

Luckily for me, there was one of my size in stock so I wouldn't have to wait til next year for a bike. :D yooohoooo! (now I just need a nice basket & a very secure lock)

Hahhaha, this post has nothing to do with the title at all - I am just currently consumed by the beauty of wagashi. ;)

This morning, I 'volunteered' to walk a dog. I don't think the dog liked me much; it just kept walking and walking and stopped whenever it likes, hahahahha. However, it was fun and I'd like to do it again (hopefully they have cuter dogs next time! hahah)

Reverie Room @ Awfully Nice Market

Up today - photos from Reverie Room's stall at the Awfully Nice Market during UNSW's Open Day last Saturday. As usual, we were up late finishing up the cards the night before; red-eyed and non-stop yawning....pouring all our 'blood & sweat' into our beloved cards, heh heh heh

The weather that day wasn't so great - it was drizzling the whole day, complete with quite strong wind. Thankfully, we were under the shelter of a huge canopy. We are quite satisfied with our sales, although it could have been better :P

The remaining cards will be on sale online soon hehee.

The set-up of our stall - running out of time, we just grabbed a small chest of drawers, a little wooden chair & a basket and hurriedly sew a blue-&-grey tablecloth. And we love it :P

Anyway, just to announce; the 'secret' project I'm working on:

Wendy & I are having a stall at the annual COFA Spring Fair design market - which is called The Awfully Nice Market this year and at a different venue - the UNSW main campus.

We are selling handmade cards - which double as a standing frame and comes with a brooch/keychain! Plus, other goodies! So, whoever's reading this - PLEASE COME VISIT & SUPPORT US!!! We even have a facebook event for it here!

Sorry, no preview of the cards here yet - but photos will be up after the market, and maybe a chance to buy the cards online :D

Oh no I haven't been updating for ages! Since the last update; many interesting things have happened - fun times with my aunty & cousin who were visiting from Perth, starting my wonderful internship, and the planning of interesting projects to come~

When I find more time, I will update this sad little blog, hahahah. Many photos yet to edit (I'm so lazy!) and upload onto here. But even more work is waiting for me *ahem* secret *ahem* project *ahem*.

And I'll be in Melbourne next week! Hurray! Wish me a smooth trip~~~ :D

Food Galore!

This weekend I've been staying home & playing chef (or rather, cook), preparing meals & desserts for John who is busy revising for exams. Thus, lots of food pics!

This one here is actually one of the noodle meals I had during weekdays mentioned in a previous post haha.

Ok now, the ones I made!

Red bean mochi! Prefer this batch to previous ones I've made long time ago heheheh.

A quick dessert using leftover meringue nests, some fruits and passionfruit puree. And a dollop of red bean!

I tried making my own version of katsu-don.

Didn't want to fry the chicken cutlets, so I baked them instead, by covering cooked chicken with egg and a generous drizzle of jap bread crumbs!

The end result!

Add more yumz with tonkatsu sauce!

Breakfast! Pikelets with (tinned) mushrooms in sauce, honey leg ham and boiled egg.

Today was my first time making a fruit tart. Not a big deal, because I didn't make the pastry heheeh! I bought ready-made pastry from the supermarket instead.

So, I made my own

crème pâtissière.

Strawberries was cheap and I bought 2 punnets.

'Decorating' it with the strawberries.... yum yum~~ (Btw, I made two. Ash, if you're reading this: You'll get to eat this tomorrow night!)

WAHAAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH!!!

My final year project was finally over yesterday! I think I need some time to get used to it, rahahahahha. Too bad I've been staying home whole day today :( With sore arms from carrying my models yesterday. On a random note: I wanna go for kickboxing class!

So, I made a video of my cat, cleared my room, threw away useless leftover materials, vacuumed the whole apartment, and also cooked a (I think) healthy lunch! It's good that with the stress gone (I hope subconsciously too!), my appetite seems to have diminished (slightly) too hahah!

Ok, as much as I'm tired of saying this - but - my final year project is the design of an unconventional street furniture to cater for the increase of pedestrians and cyclists when George St is (hopefully) closed to traffic and made into a pedestrian walkway! My client for this hypothetical project is the City Council of Sydney (I have yet to show them my final design heheh), so here are some pics.

We celebrated very moderately by going sing-k and Korean for dinner.

So, I've been eating noodles with frozen vege this past few weeks. And I have not bought this week's groceries, so for today's lunch, I had noodles......again. This time, with chicken and edamame beans. Guess what; I've not cooked meat for myself for ages (I mean when I'm eating alone). Anyway, some boring photos ahead:

And some pieces of chicken! Just season them with a bit of salt & sesame oil.

And for my dinner....I had noodles again - but spinach ones this time. With shitake mushrooms and edamame beans (again! because there's nothing else in the fridge - and, yes, because I love it) and Korean gochujang (red pepper paste). Lucky for you I didn't take any more boring photos of the making of my dinner :P

Hello hello~

What did I do this weekend? Kirribilli market was great, but did not spend enough time browsing there...should take the train there next time so that can spend more time hahah. Kino craft fair was a joke. Seafood pancake at Madang was superb as usual. Salmon for dinner at home on Saturday and burritos for dinner just now were yummy-filling. Need to start jogging!

Also spent the weekend re-thinking my FYP as I've got problems finding clients and the banning of my idea...*sigh*...and skool starts tomorrow. I have less than 12 hours to come up with a good project.

Hello! I'm back in Sydney! And received a very horrifying letter thru snail mail (which reached ages ago but I was away)... which reminded me I HAVE TO start thinking about and deciding on my final year project! Went to Double Bay for a walk today, but felt sick when I reached there - hot inside, cold with goosebumps outside, whole body was weak and aching. I hope I'm not getting sick! Thus, I'm now stuffing myself with lots of fruits & Berocca.

Dinner last night - couscous + asparagus + mushrooms in cheese & cream sauce. My own recipe, hiak hiak hiak :P

Had a fantastic afternoon & night yesterday with Imel; window-shopping, trying on dresses, yumz dinner 40 storeys above *wink* and a nice movie. Imel!!! What to do when you're not in Sydney anymore??? hahaha

Pics from the housewarming last Saturday. I feel so bad because I didn't take photos of everyone! Only took some photos when I was playing the bartender, heheheh.

Coz we had hotpot that night, so there wasn't much preparation to do. So, in the morning, I made canapé and dessert.

Quail egg + salmon + caviar.

French vanilla ice cream + jelly + toasted almonds. Looks like scrambled eggs here, doesn't it? hahaha

I especially love the grapefruit + vodka one, which I forgot to take a pic of.

Tonight, I'm going to see Maarten Baas! The weather outside looks so good, I plan to head out early this afternoon and walk around and hopefully find some new exciting places and take some nice pics.

Less than one month from HK and just 1.5 months from Kch!!! Oh how I love summer holidays~

A bad start to my hols - a jaywalking (more like jayrunning) idiot fell in front of me and squashed my foot, causing me utter pain, resulting in a swollen and now badly-bruised foot. *sobs* I can't go to work with a limp, thus resulting in less $ earned and less $ to spend this hols. Boo...

These days I've not done much besides back-up-ing my stuff onto my new hard-disk, watch some Gossip Girl and HIMYM, chat, surf dozens of design blogs and tried making the new place look nicer. Which I really really need to hurry up and do more. Btw, some mundane pics. When my foot gets better, I really need to get out and take lots of pics!
